Abdulmalik, IEDPU National President, secures fresh mandate

A retired Assistant Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Alhaji AbdulMumini Ayo Abdulmalik, was yesterday (Friday, December 26, 2025) reelected, unopposed, as the National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU). 

With the reelection, Alhaji Abdulmalik, who previously served as the Union's National Secretary in the late 1980s, will lead it for the next two years.

The reelection of the retired Immigration topshot was the highpoint of the 60th annual national conference of the Union, which was held in Ilorin.

The renewal of Alhaji Abdulmalik mandate is seen by stakeholders across the Emirate and beyond as a confirmation of the high trust reposed in him by members of the Union.

The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, who was represented by his Cousellor and Special Advisor, Alhaji Saadu Salaudeen, fnipr, as part of the opening ceremony of the Union's 60th conference commissioned the Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari Complex housing the Union's multimillion naira skills acquisition centre, which was recently completed by the Union with the massive support of  Sardauna of Ilorin under the leadership of Alhaji Abdulmalik.

Alhaji AbdulRauf Babatunde Issa was also reelected unopposed as National Vice President while Arc. Uthman Moyo was elected as National Secretary as the Director of Quality Assurance Unit at the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Dr. Nurudeen Abiodun Alao got elected as the Union's First Assistant National Secretary. 

A retired Principal, Mallam Abdullahi Toyin Abubakar, was elected as 2nd Assistant National Secretary while a senior staff member of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, 

Mallam Shuaib Sulaiman, emerged as the Union's Third Assistant National Secretary. 

Similarly, a former Secretary of the Northern Zone of the Union, Alhaji Usman Babatunde Salman, was reelected as National Treasurer while a renowned finance technocrat, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Mustapha , was elected as National Financial Secretary. Mallam Kayode Ibrahim got elected as the Assistant National Financial Secretary. For the position of National Social Secretary, Mallam Sulaiman Mahmud Alaro, was elected while 

Alhaji Kolapo Ibrahim emerged as the Assistant National Social Secretary.

 Mallam Shuaib Sulaiman Dagbo, a seasoned broadcaster with the Harmony FM, Idofian, was elected as the new National Publicity Secretary while a retired educationist and erstwhile Secretary of the Union's Central Zone,  Mallam Mashood Alfa Pakata, was elected as the Assistant National Publicity Secretary as Mr Abdulateef Adi was elected as the Union's National Legal Adviser while Mallam Adam Olumide Hanafi was elected as the Union's National Auditor.

Speaking after the swearing-in of the new Executive Council, which was officiated by a seasoned legal practitioner Alhaji Shehu Ahmad Moyosore, Alhaji Abdulmalik, thanked members of the Union for finding him and his colleagues worthy of leading the Union for the next two years.

Alhaji Abdulmalik assured all that they would all work as a team and ensure that the Union is taken beyond the next level.
