The National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdul Mumini Ayo Abdulmalik, has rejoiced with Sheikh Dr. Abdul Kadir Alfa Oba Sholagberu, on his turbaning as the first Mallami Ubandoma of Ilorin.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of IEDPU, Mallam Sulaiman Shuaib Dagbo, Alhaji Abdulmalik said that the appointment and turbaning of Sheikh Sholagberu as the first Mallami Ubandoma of Ilorin is a great joy, worthy of celebration, due to his track record and contribution towards the promotion of Arabic and Islamic Studies, which has been the prestigious heritage of Ilorin Emirate.

Alhaji Abdulmalik said that the first Mallami Ubandoma of Ilorin is a pride of the Emirate and has been recognised both at home and abroad as an erudite Islamic Scholar. He added that he has been the first indigene of Ilorin Emirate to attain the position of Chief Imam in the National Central Mosque, Abuja and was the guest speaker at the opening ceremony of the just concluded IEDPU National Conference, held on 25th December 2025.

The statement charged Dr Sholagberu to continue his efforts in building the future generation through the propagation of Islam and its teachings and showcasing good conduct and values of Ilorin.

The President of IEDPU, therefore, urged all indigenes of Ilorin Emirate to emulate the first Mallami Ubandoma of Ilorin, who is also the proprietor of Darul Kitab wa Sunnah, in channelling their knowledge and resources towards the growth and development of the Emirate and Kwara State as a whole.
