The National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdul Mumini Ayo Abdulmalik, has urged the Nigeria Police, Kwara State Command, to maintain mutual relationship between it and the Ilorin community and continue to treat the culture and traditions of the community with honour and respect.

Alhaji Abdulmalik made the request when he led a delegation of the Union's National Executive Council to meet with Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr Adekimi Ojo and his management team, at the Command Headquarters in Ilorin.

He noted that IEDPU would not support any form of crime or criminality, but would like their faith and culture to be respected.

He emphasised that Ilorin people are peace-loving with religious tolerance, a fact that has been sustaining peaceful coexistence across the Emirate and Kwara State at large. 

The President, who is a retired  Assisrant Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service,  commended the Police Commissioner for the honour accorded the Emir of Ilorin and the Emirate traditional council, which he said is a reflection of his cultural background and knowledge of religious and cultural sensitivity.

He appreciated the police command for maintaining peace and order, urging them not to relent in fighting crime. He conveyed the Emir's goodwill and prayers to the commissioner and pledged IEDPU's support for the police.

In his response, the Police Commissioner appreciated the Emir and IEDPU leadership for their cooperation with the police, pledging to maintain a cordial relationship with the community.

The delegation included AIG Adisa Baba Bolanta, AIG Babatunde Babaita, both of whom are retired; representatives of Ilorin Emirate traditional chiefs, and IEDPU National Vice President, Alhaji Abdul Rauf Babatunde Issa.
