Give Us Our Rights, IEDPU Appeals to FCSC

The National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, has appealed to the Federal Commissioner representing Kwara and Kogi States at the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) to ensure that competent and qualified people of Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State are given commensurate opportunities in employment and career progression in the federal civil service.

Alhaji Abdulmalik made this appeal on Monday (February 26,2024) when he led a delegation of the Union on a congratulatory visit to the Commissioner, Mrs Rukiyat Aduke Odekunle, in her office in Abuja.

The IEDPU President, according to a statement signed by the IEDPU National Secretary, Mr Abubaka Imam on Wednesday (February 28, 2024) and made available to newsmen, explained that gone were the days when some academic qualifications were rare among indigenes of Ilorin Emirate, saying that, today, there is no field of academic and professional training that young indigenes of Ilorin Emirate have not excelled.

He also pointed out that unlike in the past, many young indigenes of Ilorin Emirate are ready to take up appointments and serve anywhere across the nation and beyond.

He also appealed to the Commissioner to ensure that deserving indigenes of Ilorin Emirate in the federal civil service enjoy seamless career progression.

Alhaji Abdulmalik, who recalled the days of a former National President of the Union, Alhaji Agboola Adio Jimoh (A.A. Jimoh Oloje) as a Commissioner in the FCSC in the early 1980s during which many indigenes of Ilorin Emirate were recruited into the federal service, saying many of those recruited did well before retiring from the service at topmost level.

He enjoined Mrs Odekunle to emulate the late Alhaji Jimoh and her own father, who is incidentally the pioneer Professor from Ilorin Emirate, Prof. Saka Nuru, in always giving back to the community.

Responding, Mrs Odekunle thanked the IEDPU President and members of his delegation for the visit.

She explained that she regarded the visit as an honour as she assured that she would ensure that indigenes of Kwara and Kogi States get their dues in recruitment and career progression in the federal civil service.

The IEDPU President later presented a congratulatory letter from the Union to Mrs Odekunle.

Members of the Union’s delegation were the IEDPU National Vice President, Alhaji AbdulRauf Babatunde Issa; the Union’s Chief Imam, Shaykh Murtala Nurudeen Alaaya and a senior member of the Bauchi Branch of the Union, Alhaji Omar Yahaya.
