The National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, has assured that the Union would work with stakeholders towards ensuring the safety of lives and property of the people and residents of the community.

Alhaji Abdulmalik gave this assurance on Tuesday while playing host to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), Kwara State Command, Mr Nurudeen Abdul, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Union's Secretariat in Ilorin.

He added that the Union would mobilise available human and material resources to support the Police and other law enforcement agencies, saying that without peace no form of development is visible .

Alhaji Abdulmalik, who is a retired Assistant Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, said that the Union has constituted a Security Committee under the Chairmanship of Colonel Kareem Adisa Muhammad, which is charged with the responsibility of liaising with the security agencies to ensure that crimes and criminality are reduced to the barest minimum in the Emirate in particular and Kwara State in general. .

Speaking earlier, the Deputy Commissioner of Police congratulated the National President and members of the National Executive Council of the Union on their emergence.

The Police Chief urged the Union to work with the Police in order to curb crimes and criminality in the state .

Speaking on another issue, Mr Nurudeen urged the Union to support the Police with logistics , saying that the Police is as good as the available tools.

While welcoming the constitution of the Union's Security Committee,the Police Deputy Commissioner suggested that the Committee should be boosted with more members as he suggested some names of retired Police Officers that could be either included or consulted on periodic basis.

He also assured that the periodic engagement between the Kwara Police Command and community leaders as well as stakeholders would be reintroduced so as to bridge the gap between the Police and members of the public.
